More of My Diary

08/06/98 - We have two dogs, Molly a blond Cocker Spaniel who gives true meaning to "Dumb Blond" and Shasta..a laid back 14 year old Boxer!  To tell you how dumb Molly is, when I mow the lawn and have to stop for something..she runs right into the back of my legs...totally clueless to the fact I just stopped..meanwhile, what I am stopping for is one of Shasta's toys that she lays down about 10 feet ahead of me...waiting for me to toss it so she can fetch and make me stop again...I would say that Shasta is the "Smart" one...cuz she sure has me trained.

We didn't want Shasta when we got her.   She was an abused dog that our "Vet" had rescued...only 35 lbs, and 13 new puppies..He called me one day and asked me to take her..I told him we didn't want any dogs..he asked me to care for her over the weekend because he would have to call in someone to take care of her at his clinic if I wouldn't...being the nice person I try to be, I agreed...only took three minutes on the way home to decided her fate...she has been with us ever since...all 70 lbs of her..Then came Molly...she was found on the side of the road in the next county, her fur was actually frozen in spots...my son took her home...(he called me first)..knowing his wife didn't like dogs, I went out to see if she was gonna let him keep Molly...of course, she said no...so I took Molly home and ran ads in every publication around...nobody claimed her...so she too has been here ever since...did you ever feel like a fish on a hook?  I did when these two goofy dogs just reeled me in with they loving eyes...
